Cotta Shrine in Ozamiz City

by - Friday, December 15, 2017

Situated at the southeast of Ozamiz City and strategically located at the mouth of Panguil Bay is The Cotta Shrine which used as a military stronghold since it was built in 1750's until now. According to Miguel Bernad, S.i., a historian, Cotta was proposed by Father Jose Ducos of the Jesuit to repel the Moro piratical raids and to provide shelter for the ships of the Spanish fleet during that time. He also noted that it was built about 225 years ago.

Now it became a tourist spot to people, like me, who value so much and wants to learn more about the history of the Philippines.
