When I saw the Rock Formation during my research in Marag, Apayao, I told myself that by any means I will be visiting this place. I have a fear with rock formation after our hike at Sipit Ulang, but since this is just plain rock formation, this won’t hurt that bad. I am so excited that even when we arrive at the hotel for around 4:30 in the morning I wake up so early for we have a long day waiting for us. I am really excited because adventures awaits and I am just so hype that time.

But unlike in Abra, where we got so much little time, here in Apayao we had the weather not in favor with us. I woke up around 6 in the morning and got ready in no less than 30 minutes and wake up my friend to do her morning rituals but as I go out our room and inhale the good vibes and the freshness of air at Apayao rain starts falling slowly and the skies became darker and darker. Sad. But that didn’t stop us for doing the activities, though hiking at Mt. Solo is not advisable as per the owner of the hotel. Sad again.

So we head to our contact person who will bring us to Marag and to experience its Rock Formation.

It was a long single motor drive going to Marag, it took us almost an hour to get there. It was muddy and rough road by the time we enter this town and as if we were eaten by nature in a very subtle way and I knew that time we’re going to have a great day despite the weather.

Upon arrival at the jump-off, we secured permits and guides and register. We eat first since by the time we gonna finish the activity it was pass lunch time already. There is a small eatery beside the court where the barangay hall was situated where you are going to register for the rock formation.

Going to Rock Formation requires a guide and gears available at barangay hall, it is a precaution they are doing for of course, nature is very unpredictable. As for the price, I really forgot, and I am so sorry for that, but just to be sure, prepare at least 1000 each for the rest of the activity for the day.

This Rock Formation is advisable for beginner esp those who seek adventure. There will be a river crossing and be mindful for there are some limatik. I was bitten when we got down going back to the single motor but it was just so small it doesn't hurt that bad. But of course, again, extra careful.

The view at the top is wonderful, too bad there is no so much clearing but we still enjoyed it.

Bitten by limatik

How to get there
If you are coming from Manila, ride a bus going to Tuguegarao and informed the driver you are heading to Apayao Junction. From Apayao Junction there are tricycle that will take you to Apayao proper.

You can actually hire a guide to get you there. We paid 1000 for the whole day activity we had, he will take you to different destinations already and will wait for you. But if you’re on private vehicle you may do so. Cars can go up to the drop off point.

When we learned a new route going to Apayao via Ilocos we headed immediately to Laoag to catch a trip going to Tuguegarao that will pass by at Apayao Junction going to Apayao. The last trip that day was 9 pm and we haven’t had any proper sleep yet, all we had was a sleep from previous night bus travel going to Abra. The road to Apayao became slippery after an hour for rain starts pouring so hard but I didn’t bother to worry more for I am so dead tired and sleepyhead that time. I do check time to time the maps application on my phone for our whereabouts, if ever the kundoktor forgets that they will be dropping us off at Junction. But good thing he weren’t because all I can remember was a tap and a shout saying we’re already at Junction by 2 am! Yes, 2 in the morning.

When we arrive at Apayao in the wee hours the rain is still pouring and we haven’t really decided yet where we are staying. Good thing there was a convenient store that is open 24 hours and has a mini eatery that we have a place to stay for a while to decide what we gonna do. There are no tricycle at that time and no people with information enough to point us to the nearest inn so we can finally rest.

There is this one group whose been drinking and one of them approached us saying that his sister owns a hotel where we can stay. We hesitate at first but we are chilling and it was 4 in the morning and we badly need a bed to succumb ourselves. And we said yes.

As I've mentioned from my previous post about Apayao, this provinces holds so much activity to offer esp to those who are adventure-seeker or to people who wants to know their limits, Apayao has it all for you.

Luna the Show Window of Apayao. Clearly, its name holds so much truthfulness for this town is really the show window of the province. After visiting Apayao, I can now say that it is one of the provinces that I would like to go back and revisit again and again for it has so many nature adventure to offer. I was not able to visit most of it for the weather at Apayao is unpredictable (as per the local we talked too) but nonetheless this trip is unforgettable as the others, too.

I've listed all the possible landmarks and activity I wanted to visit and do on this province, those that are accessible with other and most likely to be in just one place and here are the ones that make it on the list for there are a lot.

Marag Rock Formation
Lussok Cave
Mt. Solo
Bayugao Falls
Underground River

How to get here

If coming from Manila or if you are in Laoag, Ilocos Sur
Ride a bus going to Tuguegarao Cagayan and drop at Apayao Junction. From Junction there are tricycle that will lead you to Luna Apayao

I’m afraid for this day to come, to finally bid goodbye. I feel so sad every time I think of it and I do think of it every day; from the moment I open my eyes in the morning to the moment I close it at night. If only I can drag the days longer to always hear your voice even if I always wear my earplugs, to always see your smile, to always take a sneak on your eyes, to always admire how your hair perfectly suits you,.

If only I can drag the days longer to always be with you even from afar and feel your presence each and every time. It hurts and it hurts more every day. If only I can wipe all the feelings I have for you. If only I can teach this heart of mine to stop beating for you. If only I can unlove you. If only it would be that easy. I will. But it isn’t, because I have fallen for you more than I can imagine.

I’m sorry for liking you.

I’m sorry if, for the past months that me glancing-to-staring at you gives you creeps. Sorry if I irritate you when you catch me glaring at you. I don’t even know why I am apologizing in the first place but I know somehow with those instances I felt that I annoyed you and I am deeply sorry for that. It’s just, there are some things in this world you can’t let your eyes off it; no matter how hard you tried diverting away from everything.

I guess that’s the beauty of the eyes, it will lead you right back where it finds beauty beyond comparison; but as tricky as it is, it pursues the things that will hurt you all the more without it knowing as it did to mine.

I guess it’s just me building pile of memories with my eyes that somewhere behind it, it has seen something worth staring, worth keeping, worth remembering.

Please don’t hate my words. There are days that I’m bad at it.

I’m really bad at it.

Dear You,

I am writing this letter to let you know that I like you the moment I set my eyes on you. It grows deeper by day and believe me I’ve tried every possible way to shrug and avoid this feeling. Funny how though, we hardly talk, but those small talked from the past is enough for me to treasure for a lifetime.

You may not be able to read this letter anyway for I have no guts on giving this to you. If you happened to read this letter by any means I want you to leave it just like that. You don’t have to answer nor mention it. I forbid you. I know I am hallucinating to believe that you will feel the same for I know it is impossible. No, I am not asking for more, meeting you and knowing you is more than enough.

So I want you to stay quiet, go on with your beautiful and adventurous life, have fun and continue being awesome as you are. This letter happens to just pass you by, that it never happened, that this is just like our normal encounter every day; ignoring each other. Because knowing that you read this makes me fall to my knees and makes my pulse race.

I also want you to know that your voice is music to my ears, that I end up wearing my earplugs almost every day because hearing more means falling for you more.

Did you know that you have the sweetest smile that I have ever seen? And that you look twice more handsome when you throw one?

But most of all you have the most passionate eyes. And I wonder how many fall on their knees when they see you stare? You have a stare that could mean anything or nothing to someone, but for me it means everything. It means even for a while I get to glimpse with those eyes, with your passionate eyes.

And lastly, you wear your hair like no one else can. Be it lay on your shoulder or in a bun. You wear it like an armor, like you are the most masculine of all.

I hope these makes you smile even a little, but if it creeps you out, my deepest apology.

To tell you honestly, you are the person I never wanted to meet. Because I know meeting someone like you means changing my beliefs, it means a big impact on my everyday life. You are the person I never planned to meet. You are the person I was afraid to meet. You are the person I never expected to meet.

But I want to thank you. Because meeting you means I am still alive, that after all those bad times in the past that I almost believe that this is impossible to feel again, like an arrow shot from a crossbow, like a flash of lighting leaving a jagged line across the sky, it happened, so sudden that it is almost foreign to me.

Thank you, though I know you have no idea about this (but you have now), thank you, because in the shortest months of my life I feel more alive than ever, more delighted, more colorful.

You serve as the rainbow after all the storms. Thank you for being my inspiration in so many ways you know nothing about.

If by fate we see each other again one day, I want you to ignore me, to continue walking, to continue where you are going. But I know deep down, I want you to smile at me and wave at me and ask how am I. But no, please, don’t do that.

And God’s be good you will live a life with so much adventure, a life not just what you desire but a life that you deserve with your family, your friends, and your special someone. And I am more than happy to know that.

Thank you because, because of you, I have felt this kind of emotion the same feeling I have when I’m on top of every mountain, the same feeling I have when I’m in the middle of the sea, the same feeling I have when I am surrounded by my books.

Thank you because, because of you I have felt this kind of emotion; as high as the highest peak and as deep as deepest sea and all the roads in between.

See you at the crossroads, this whole thing meeting you, it was and still an extraordinary and blissful adventure I will never forget about.

It is new to me that this province has something to offer. Really, I'm thanking this Project 81 that I am doing because I get to know more my country and by that exploring the unknown to many. Last Holy Week in my attempt to complete the region of Cordillera I did a lot of research on the remaining provinces of CAR or Cordillera Administrative Region. The provinces of CAR consists of (in alphabetical order) Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mt. Province. I've been to Benguet, Kalinga, and Mt. Province and that leaves the other three which I am very eager to visit so that I can cross-out the CAR region on my Project 81.

Thank heavens for the Holy Week because I was able to visit not just one or two provinces but six provinces in four days! That, I will narrate separately.

One of the many provinces of the Philippines that is not usually on the top list of traveled places is the province of Apayao. If you've been following my blog quite sometime I always mention that I have a thing for less traveled places that is why it is on my top list to visit this province.  During my research about the place there are so little information abut it so I gather all I can have and packed my bag.

The following lists and information (and words) are from what I gathered from Apayao EZ Map during my visit to this haven.

1. Lussok Cave

This unique liemstone rock formation is a historical site as it served as a fortress for the locals during the years of insurgency. The crevices and mazes offere the people shelter and safety. It was once feared though for what the locals believed to be its enchanted character.

One of the best thing about being a girl is that you can wear a dress! And dressing up became a thing nowadays and many are offering a cheap clothing that girls go gaga about it. But of course, we still need to be extra careful on choosing brands and online shop to buy our desired dresses. Part of it is knowing what dresses are really looking for. There are a variety of different dresses out there, like skater dresses, cocktail dresses, bodycon dresses, and casual dresses for women.

Before, I also have difficulty on choosing a perfect dress for me. I am not really a fan of overprice outfits but I don't want to jeopardize the quality as well. So I became very observant before buying. Taking note of the quality and the price. Of course, if I really really want it like I can't help but to buy it right away. Things happened sometimes.
