Exploring Cebu!

Cebu is probably one of the provinces that has so many destinations. That's why after our Bantayan Island escapade we roam the city of Cebu. It was easy (even though they have different dialect, they can still understand Tagalog and English), because all you need is the list of places you wanted to go, call a cab to get you there.

Actually, you can also hire a taxi to be your guide. But make sure to find one who will not cost you much. Some asks for higher payment which I doubt the real price.

When you go to Cebu, I guess, one of the list always include the Magellan's cross. For it holds so much history about our country. Of course, it was one on our list. And after that, there's no more. Seriously?? Yes, our entire three days two nights trip consume our Bantayan Island escapade since Bantayan island will take you hours to go there. When we got back from the city it was already evening and we are so tired that we end up sleeping and the next day we only have the rest of the day for our last hurrah before our flight.

Cebu holds so many old and scenery churches that I really wanted to visit. Those I am seeing only on the pictures and postcards. Last 2013, most of it were hit by the earthquake and ruined and destroy most of it. By the time I saw it, they were renovating and reconstructing the Church and preserve what still remains.

I've been to two different Catholic chruch: The  Basilica Minore del Santo Niño and The Chapel of San Perdo Calungsod. We also went to Cebu Taoist Temple. These are all located at the north side of Cebu. There are much more landmarks to go to on the south side but we have so little time that we manage our remaining time to go to as many as we could around the area. It was a fun experience and we it was not costly since we just walked through streets and get lost in the highways that we end up getting hungry! Speaking of getting hungry, no one went to Cebu without tasting their finest Cebu lechon! And we did! And we make it our last stop! It was the most yummiest and delicious and savory lechon I've tasted so far. We ate at Rico's Lechon at Acacia Drive Ayala. You must try it! Not just that they offered a very delicious food but a beautiful ambiance too!

As I've said earlier there are a lot of destinations to go to at Cebu and will definitely going back there for sure. Will not have to cross out the Cebu on my bucket list yet.

With so much love, Ellie

  1. You can hire a cab to be your guide? How unusual! In most European cities this would just be too expensive.

    Have a great week,
